Forty-seven young people of Don Bosco Church Lingarajapuram, Bangalore, took an oath to be good Christians and honest citizens on November 15, at the inauguration and Membership Day of Don Bosco Youth at Lingarajapurm. The entire event began with a concelebrated Holy Eucharist, presided over by Fr Aloysious, Rector and Parish Priest, along with Fr Anil D’Sa, Secretary of Youth Commission, Bangalore Archdiocese, Fr Sampath, Joint-Secretary of Youth Commission, Bangalore Archdiocese, Fr Arunkumar, Asst. Parish Priest and Fr William D’Souza, Youth Animator. After the Holy communion, the members lit candles to remind them of the baptismal and conformational promises.
During the inauguration, held in the auditorium, His Grace Most Rev Peter Machado, Archbishop of Bangalore Archdiocese, gave a message and blessings virtually. Expressing his delight, the Archbishop appreciated the young for their resolve to be at the service of the Church. Fr Jose Koyickal SDB, Vice-Provincial and Youth Pastoral Delegate of Bangalore Province delivered the presidential address explaining the importance of being a good Christian and an honest citizen. Fr Anil D’Sa, in his keynote address, articulated the role of young people in the Church. Sr Maria FMA, Director of Auxilium Youth Services, Mrs Valeria George, member of Rotary Kalyan and Mr Tony Jesuraj, State Vice-President of Bosco Youth, Karnataka, graced the occasion with their presence.
