Fr Aloysius Santiago, Parish Priest of Don Bosco Church, Lingarajapuram was honoured for his selfless service during this pandemic. A philanthropist, Fr Santiago goes out to the needy, especially the slum children, has earned him the title, Santa of Slum Children. Fr Santiago, who initiated giant strides to reach out to the poor this pandemic, received the COVID WARRIOR Award from His Grace Most Rev Dr Peter Machado, Archbishop of Bangalore Archdiocese during an event to felicitate the front-runners of pandemic alleviation programme.

Caring for the Disabled, an event organized at Don Bosco Church in association with Rotary Bangalore Kalyan, SAM Foundation and HUG Foundation, honoured 11 specially-abled persons for their philanthropic works. “It was indeed an honour to celebrate the lives of these inspirational people who have beaten all odds and progressed in the society,” said Valerie George, President, Rotary Bangalore Kalyan. The Foundation donated a wheelchair to John Paul, a differently-abled boy, and has taken up to provide four more wheelchairs to the needy.
