Salesian Cooperators

“You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and have appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain”Jn.15:16

To be a Salesian Cooperator is a God’s call.It is a vocation.

At the bidding of the Holy Spirit, Don Bosco set in motion with the Church a great movement of Apostolicc force the ‘Salesians’ both religious and non-religious. The Salesian Cooperators form a branch of the Salesian Family of Don Bosco. They possess the same charism as the members of the other branches of the the Salesian Family.

“The Cooperator, as conceived by Don Bosco , is a true Salesian-in –the world, that is a Christian ,layperson or priest ,who, even without religious vows, follows a vocation to holiness by offering himself to work for the young in the spirit of Don Bosco, in the service of the local Church, and in communion with the Salesian Congregation.”

Don Bosco words:

“We need friends in the world who live the Salesian spirit whilst remaining in their own families. This is what the Salesian Cooperators do.”

“The Association of the Salesian Cooperators is of the greatest importance for us. It is the soul of the Congregation, and serves as a link whereby we can do good together with the people who live in the world.”

“So that their life can in some way be like that os the Salesians who live in a religious community.”

“The Cooperators main aim under the general supervision of the Salesians is to help with their good works the Church, the Bishops and the parish Priests.”
